Hymns represent a valuable inheritance, which dates back to the apostolic age. Hymns are an essential element of any curriculum. They satisfy the emotional and the artistic aspects of the human. The church through the ages was inspired by the Holy Spirit to sing Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Jesus Christ Himself praised with His disciples, as in the upper room after He gave them His holy body and His precious blood, St. Mark the evangelist – the owner of that room – mentions “and when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.” (Mark 14:26). It is enough to know that the longest book of the Bible is the Book of Psalms. Hymns allow us to participate in one of the church's valuable treasures which is praising God.
